Electricity is a basic necessity for modern living in today’s world, but it’s gradually becoming a luxury for most manufacturing industries and homes as well. The impact of this? Increasing electricity costs means higher production costs, which in turn means higher end-product costs. Solar energy, as a renewable source of energy, plays an important role in reducing greenhouse gas emissions and mitigating climate change, which is critical for protecting humans, wildlife, and ecosystems. Solar energy is an efficient, cost-effective, and long-term source of electricity that plays an important role in economic growth and development.
Good news? Blowplast has taken a significant step by adopting the Go Green Initiative in transitioning to renewable energy for a more sustainable future. In 2022, we committed as a business to installing 945KW of solar energy for our operations. We have a set target to reach 100% renewable energy by December 2023. So far, we’ve met 22% of the12-hour requirements and 9% of the 24-hour requirements.
Transitioning to renewable electricity is a significant driver of emissions reduction in our operations. As much as possible, this has been delivered through supporting local renewable energy markets. Our new solar system can generate enough electricity to cover the energy requirements of our factory operations. This is delivering multiple benefits; it’s making our business more receptive to rising energy costs and has been the biggest driver in lowering our operational emissions.
Going green has been a game changer; it will take businesses to swiftly take action to fight climate change – and Blowplast is as committed as ever. We are proud of our dedication to sustainability and strive to lead the way for environmentally responsible practices.
