I take this opportunity to thank the Group Managing Director and the stakeholder departments for their cooperation in the third quarter of the year 2021, which led to the recertification for ISO 22000:2018 Food Safety Management Systems (FSMS).
Simply defined food safety is the extent to which plastic containers for packing food substance are manufactured with the approved best practices for them to be free from any sort of contamination which poses risk of contamination of the finished consumer product.
The team success is attributed to our executive management of Blowplast Limited led by our Group Managing Director Mr. Sanjay Brahmbhatt and the constant support and motivation he has shown, as well as defining the roles and responsibilities to ensure that the Food Safety Management Systems is fully implemented in the organization.
The management has also allocated resources to ensure that the ISO 22000:2018 FSMS standard is fully sustained and maintained to achieve the organizations targets in line with its strategic plans as envisaged in the vision and mission of the organization.
As an organization we were previously certified for ISO 22000:2005 Food Safety Management Systems for over 10 years, whereby we were the first plastic manufacturing company in East and central Africa to have the certification.
The recent recertification on upgraded standard on ISO 22000: 2018 FSMS shows the continual improvement that has been implemented to keep up to date the changing circumstances regarding Food Safety Management System.
ISO 22000:2018 FSMS has assisted us to adopt a process approach in implementation of the food safety management system, a move that has seen the organization undertake a stakeholder analysis to address the needs and expectations of interested parties including customers. Further, the management system has allowed us to implement risk based thinking in all our processes as a proactive means to determine risk controls and to avert risks timely.
The risks and opportunities are addressed in management level and also in departmental level by use of SWOT method where by the Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats are addressed in a systematic manner and action plan on the gaps is worked on.
